GK Shamim, Khaled on seven-day remand in graft cases

A Dhaka court put government contractor GK Shamim and suspended Awami Juba League Dhaka south unit organising secretary Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan on seven days remand each in connection with two sepearate cases filed against them for amassing illegal wealth on Sunday.

Dhaka Senior Special Judge (in-charge) Md Al Mamun passed the order after investigation officers of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer for each of them.

The court also denied bail petitions filed by the accused.

Earlier on October 21, ACC Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sued Shamim and his mother for amassing Tk 297.08 crore wealth beyond the known source of income.

Expelled Jubo League Dhaka South Organising Secretary Khaled was also sued for amassing Tk 5.58 crore illegally.
