Universal Orlando’s upcoming Jurassic World rollercoaster is one of the most highly-anticipated new rides opening in 2021, and now thrill-seekers have got a first look at the terrifying ride.

The resort has just revealed a brand new image and video of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster ride, offering a first look at the sleek vehicles which riders will board for what’s sure to be an adrenaline-inducing experience.

The sleek blue carriages which include formations of two riders have been ‘designed for speed’ and ‘engineered for the hunt’ – handy considering the whole concept is that visitors will be embarking on a high-speed chase alongside a pack of Velociraptors.

The park has also shared a short video showcasing the vehicles – and for a couple of seconds, a quick POV style offering which shows what riders can expect when the ride launches.

There are nods to the various Jurassic film franchises too including the original Jurassic Park logo alongside the InGen logo (the company founded by John Hammond) which is seen in the Jurassic World films.

It’s not difficult to see why it’s such a highly-anticipated launch.

For a start the Jurassic World VelociCoaster will be one of the resort’s fastest yet with speeds reaching up to 70mph, not to mention it features heaps of heart-stopping moments from a, a 360-degree barrell roll to a 12-second zero-gravity inverted stall that sends you upside down across 100 feet of track.

Riders will also be catapulted up to 155ft in the air, after which the rollercoaster still offers two pulse-pounding launches (one of which reaches 70mph in 2.4 seconds).

At the moment there’s no exact opening date for the ride, but it is currently planned to open in summer 2021 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure park.
