Five killed as boat capsizes in Meghna

Five people, including a woman and child, died as a boat carrying wedding party members capsized in the Meghna due to rough weather in Noakhali’s Hatia on Tuesday afternoon.
Several others remain missing since filing of this missing.
Confirming the news, Abul Hasan, in-charge inspector of Hatia Morshed Bazar police camp, said the trawler sank on the way to Dhaler Char from Hatia Jarandi Ghat. On information, members of the Coast Guard and Navy reached the spot and started rescue operation.
Five bodies have been recovered from the river till now, he said.
