India has given two 52-seated buses to Rajshahi University as a gift with an aim to ease the transportation of the students of the one of the renowned university of Bangladesh.
Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Dhaka Sanjeev Kumar Bhati handed over the keys of the buses to the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor M Abdus Sobhan in a ceremony held at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Senate Building on Tuesday.
Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Doraiswami attended the event virtually and delivered his welcome speech.
While speaking in the event, the Indian high commissioner said that the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in building friendship between Bangladesh and India will be remembered forever.
Terming India as a friendly neighbour and proven ally for being the biggest help during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, the RU VC said that the gift manifested the love of Indian people to Bangladeshi people.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, Prof Choudhury Md Zakaria, Registrar Prof MA Bari, Proctor Prof Lutfar Rahman, among others, were present at the event.
