DSCC begins canal rescue operation

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) started a special drive to rescue the canal and drain of its area on Saturday, aiming to solve the long-standing waterlogging problem in the city.

In the first day of its drive, the staffs of the corporation removed waste from box culvert of Panthakunj Park in the capital’s Panthapath area.

The crash programme started at 9:00am at Panthakunj Park with the presence of officers and employees of the Waste Management Department of DSCC.

Public Relation Officer of DSCC Abu Naser said DSCC Chief executive officer ABM Amin inspected the waste removal activities at 1:00pm.

Earlier on Thursday, DSCC, DNCC formally took over the management and maintenance responsibilities of 26 canals and 10 kilometres of box culverts from Dhaka Wasa.
