Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ideologue Serajul Alam Khan was admitted to a hospital in the capital after falling sick.
Serajul Alam, “mystery man” in Bangladesh politics, was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Wednesday night.
The 80-year-old was suffering from high blood pressure and other complexities for long.
Ferdaus Alam, younger brother of the politician, confirmed the matter to media.
He urged the countrymen to pray for his brother’s quick recovery.
Serajul and other student leaders formed a network called ‘Nucleus’ in the early 60s to push for Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan.
Soon after the creation of Bangladesh, the Awami League suffered a split giving birth to JSD under the guidance of Serajul.
