BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left for Singapore for medical treatment on Saturday morning.
Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore in a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 8:40am, said his personal secretary M Yunus Ali.
He said Fakhrul will receive treatment at Farrer Park Hospital for various complexities.
Once he reaches Singapore, the BNP leader will stay in quarantine as per the rules there and then go to the hospital for treatment, Yunus said.
He, however, could not say when the BNP secretary general will return home.
Earlier on October 4, 2019, Fakhrul last visited Singapore for the same purpose.
