JSC, JDC exams begin

The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations began across the country on Saturday morning.

This year, 2,670,333 students from 29,677 educational institutions are participating in the examinations at 2,903 centres.

Of them, 2,267,343 students – 1,043,752 boys and 1,223,591 girls – will sit for the JSC examination, while 402,990 examinees – 179,980 boys and 223,010 girls – for the JDC examination.

Altogether, 246,353 irregular students will take part in the JSC examination while 34,251 in the JDC. The number of special students in JSC is 130,785 while it is 30,548 in JDC.

Besides, 578 students will sit for the JSC and JDC examinations at nine overseas centres.

The JSC examination will end on November 15 and JDC on November 14.

Last week, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said all coaching centers would remain closed from October 25 to November 15 during the entire length of the JSC and JDC examinations.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after the national monitoring and law and order committee’s meeting on JSC, JDC exams at the International Mother Language Institute.

The authorities were instructed to keep the coaching centers shut for smooth holding of the examinations.
