A one-year old minor boy was burnt to death in a house fire in Telirchala area of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Ismail, son of Badal Mia, hailing from Pakuli area in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha. They used to live in the rented house.

Kabirul Alam, station officer of Kaliakair Fire Service, said the fire broke out in the tin-shed house of Rezaul Karim in Telirchala area due to a gas cylinder leakage at 7:30 am and the fire spread to the surrounding rooms within a moment.
Upon receiving the news, three firefighting units of the fire service went to the spot and the fire was brought under control after an hour of frantic effort, he said.

Over 18 rooms of the house were also gutted in the fire and the extent of damage caused by the fire is still unknown, it said.
