Mother, daughter burnt to death in Cumilla fire

A woman and her daughter were burnt to death in a house fire at Bhelanagar village in Eliotganj Uttar union under Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Shaleha Begum, 35, wife of Kuwait expatriate Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan and their daughter Farjana Akter, 8, hailing from the area.
Inspector Md Saiful Islam, in-charge of Daudkandi Gauripur police investigation centre, said the fire broke out in the tin-shed house of Mohammad Ali at 10:00 pm.
Upon receiving the news, Daudkandi Fire Service and Gauripur Investigation Center Police rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, he added.
However, the reason behind the fire and the extent of losses from it could not be known immediately, he said.
