A Khulna court on Thursday sentenced four men to death and five others to life term imprisonment for killing a medicine trader in Terkhada upazila of Khulna in 2010.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Md Yarab Hossain delivered the verdict this noon.

The death row convicts are Farid Mollah, Misbah Mollah, Mortaza Molla and Tutul Mollah while life awardees are Mukto Mollah, Shahidul Shikder, Selim Shikder, Nasir Shikder and Mehedi Mollah, all of them hailing from Katenga village of Terkhada upazila.

The court also acquitted four accused as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.

According to the case statement, the convicts attacked Firoj Sheikh with sharp knives in August 15, 2010.

Later, Firoj died at Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) while undergoing treatment.

Three days later, Firoj Sheikh’s brother Hiru Sheikh filed a murder case with the Terkhada police station, accusing 30 people.
