Two children were killed and two others injured by lightning strike at Dakshin Madraj village under Sashibhushan Police Station of Bholai on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as Jahirul Islam Sagor, 11, son of Md Kuddu Majhi and Sifat Hossain Shanto, 9, both of them hailing from the area.

The injured are identified as Md Nur Nabi, 40 and Ibrahim, 8, from the same area.

Md Mahbub Alam Khokon, chairman of Ewajpur union parishad, said the tragic accident took place at 2:00pm when a thunderbolt struck on them while they were playing in the field in the area, leaving them injured.

Later, locals took the injured to Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared Sagor and Sifat dead.

Md Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed the matter.
