Hundreds of shanties gutted in fire at Tongi

Hundreds of shanties were gutted in a devastating fire at a slum in Tongi area of Gazipur early Saturday.

Media report said the fire broke out around 3.00am at a churi factory in Milgate area and soon engulfed the adjacent slum, burning down hundreds of shanties.

Senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service Iqbal Hossain confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.

 

Being informed, eight fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire  under control, he added.
