A police official, who injured in a road accident in Kalamuria area under Kosba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday night, succumbed to his injuries at Brahmanbaria General Hospital on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Golam Mostofa, 57, was a sub-inspector of Kasba Police Station, son of late Ali Ajam, hailing from Poithara village at Munshirhat union in Fulgazi upazila of Feni.

Muhammad Alamgir Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed the matter.

The OC said, “A Cumilla-bound pick-up van rammed the SI while he was discharging his duty on Cumilla-Sylhet highway at 10:30pm, leaving him seriously injured”.

Later, the injured was first taken to Kasba Upazila Health Complex but doctor of the complex referred him to Brahmanbaria General Hospital as his condition deteriorated, he added.
