Three special train services launched on Gazipur-Dhaka route

The railway authorities on Sunday launched three special train services on Gazipur –Dhaka route to ease journey of commuters who wants to avoid 13-km gridlock between Chandona and Tongi on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

The special train service was opened through inaugurating the ‘Turag Express’, said the railway sources here.

The three special train services —Turag, Tangail Commuter and Kaliakoir Demu- will be operated amid the novel coronavirus situation, said M Rezaul Islam, station master of Joydebpur Junction, Gazipur.

 

Turag will leave Gazipur for Dhaka at 7:15am and leave Dhaka for Gazipur at 5:20pm. Tangail Commuter will leave Gazipur at 8:20am and Dhaka at 6:00pm and the Kaliakoir Demu will depart from Gazipur at 5:30pm and Dhaka next day at 1:45pm.

To avoid serious traffic gridlock on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, the train services will be conducted from morning to evening by keeping vacant fifty percent seat of the total capacity.
