Female teacher, house help found dead in Sylhet

Police recovered the bodies of a school teacher and her housemaid from her house in Dayamir area under Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet early hours of Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Tapti Rani Dey (50), was a teacher of Swairgaon Primary School, wife of Vijay Dey and her housekeeper Gouranga Vaidya.

Police said Tapti Rani’s husband doctor Vijay and her doctor son went to a private practice in the afternoon. At that time, Tapati and housemaid Gouranga were staying at home. At night, Vijay knocked the door after returning home but did not get response from inside the house. Later, Vijay informed the police.

 

Osmaninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shyamal Banik said, “Police went there and broke open the door of the house at 12:00am.  The throat-slit body of Tapti Rani was found on the floor while the body of Gaurang was found hanging.

However, the cause of the incident could not be known immediately, the police official said.
