Eighteen more people have died from coronavirus or Covid-19 infections and coronavirus-like symptoms while receiving treatment at the corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).

Confirming the deaths, RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani said the deaths were registered in the last 24 hours starting from 8:00am on Thursday (July 09) to 8:00am Friday (July 09).

Of the 18 deaths, three were coronavirus positive while the remaining 15 died of Covid-like symptoms.

Of the dead, 10 were from Rajshahi district, two each from Chapainawabganj, Natore and Naogaon and one each from Sirajganj and Kushtia, the RMCH director said.

It is learnt that the number of Covid-19 deaths in the hospital rose to 157 in eight days of this month.

A total of 354 people died at the corona unit of the hospital in the month of June.
