Police arrested nineteen leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from a house in Chattogram city on Monday night.
Confirming the news, said Rajesh Barua, inspector (Investigation) of Chandgaon police station, said that acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Baniyapul-Mazargate area of Adurpara and arrested them when they were holding a secret meeting with an aim to create unrest in the city during the ongoing lockdown.
Two of the arrestees are Chandgaon Thana North unit Jamaat Amir Hasan Mohammed Yasin, general secretary Rafiq Uddin, assistant Baitul Mal secretary Md Iskander.
Later, a case was filed under Special Power Act with Chandgaon Police Station.
