5 of a family killed in Teknaf landslide

Five members of a family were killed in a landslide due to heavy rainfall at Nhilla area in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Syed Alam, his sons Sukkur, Abdur Rahim, daughters Kohinur and Jainba.

The incident occurred around 2:00am in Pankhali Villagepara.

 

Nhilla Union Parishad (UP) chairman Rashed Mahmud Ali confirmed the incident.

Earlier on Tuesday, seven people, including five Rohingyas, died in landslides triggered by heavy rains at blocks G-37 and 38 of the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The dead were identified as Dilbahar, 42, and her son Shafiul Alam, 9, of block G-37, and Dilbahar, 25, Abdur Rahman, 25, and Ayesha Siddika, one-year old, of block G-38.
