Robber killed in Chattogram ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kajol, 48.
A team of Rab launched a drive at Bayezid link road area around 1:00am after receiving information that a gang of robbers was prepping to commit robbery in the area, said Avul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on the elite force members, forcing them to retaliate, he added.
After the gunfight, the law enforcers recovered the body of Kajol from the spot and sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.
