Two construction workers died after inhaling toxic gas inside an under-construction septic tank in Harinarayanpur village of Kushtia’s Sadar upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hanna, 32, son of Amir Mandol and Shakil, 21, son of Paban, both of them hailing from the area.

Shakil first got down into the septic tank in the house of one Bakkar Kasai in the morning. When he failed to return, Hannan entered the tank to search him.

When both failed to return, locals got down in the septic tank and spotted that both of them were lying unconscious.

Later, they were pulled the duo out of the septic tank and rushed them to a local clinic, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Islamic University Police Station Mostafizur Rahman Ratan confirmed the matter.
