A Kushtia court on Tuesday sentenced four men to death and another to life term imprisonment in a case filed for killing sub-register in Sadar upazila of Kushtia in 2018.

Judge of Kushtia First Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Tajul Islam handed down the verdict in presence of the accused this morning.

Public Prosecutor of the court Anup Kumar said that the convicts stabbed and then strangled the sub-registrar named Nur Mohammad Shah, 50 of Kushtia Sadar upazila at his rented flat in the district town’s Arupara area on October 8, 2018.

He was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Later in the day, Kamruzzaman, younger brother of the deceased, filed a murder case with Kushtia Model Police Station against some unidentified persons.
