Another dead dolphin has been washed up on Kuakata sea beach of Patuakhali on Wednesday morning.

KM Bachchu, a member of Kuakata Dolphin Protection Committee, spotted the dolphin in the second Zhaoban area, 5 km east of Kuakata Zero Point while he was going to Gangamati around 6:00am. Later, he informed it to the head of the Protection Committee.

The dolphin, about 7 feet long, had injury marks on its mouth but the exact cause of death of the dolphin could not be ascertained, he said, adding that the mammal may have died after getting trapped in a fishing net.

Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, team leader of the Dolphin Protection Committee, said with this, a total of 22 dead dolphins washed ashore the beach this year.

Several meetings have been held with the forest department and fisheries officials about this. They have promised to find out the exact cause of death of the dolphins and take steps to save the dolphins, he said.
