A mother of a newborn baby has filed a writ petition with the High Court (HC) seeking its directives on the authorities of a private hospital to give Tk 25 lakh as compensation to her over unnecessary caesarean section for delivering the baby.
Sufferer — Rima Sultana Nipa, daughter of Jamal Hossain Bipu of Chandraganj upazila of Laxmipur — filed the petition with the HC on Thursday.
On behalf of Rima Sultana Nipa, Supreme Court (SC) lawyer Md JR Khan Rabin submitted the petition praying to the HC to issue a rule asking the concerned authorities to compensate the sufferer.
Health secretary, home secretary, director general of the Directorate General of Health Service, managing director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), the authorities of the private hospital and four others have been made respondent to the required rule.
A HC bench will hold the hearing on the petition on Sunday, Md JR Khan Rabin said.
