A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted bail to Uttara Club Limited’s former president Nasir U Mahmud and his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Omi in an attempted rape and murder case filed by actress Pori Moni.

Judge Md Hemayet Uddin of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 recorded her statement after Pori Moni filed a no-confidence petition against the probe report submitted by Savar police.

Earlier in the day, the tribunal granted bail to Nasir ans Omi after they surrendered before it, seeking bail in the case.

Meanwhile, Nasir and Omi were present in the court. However, another accused in the case Shahidul Alam is absconding.

Pori Moni filed the attempted rape and murder case against real-estate businessman and presidium member of the Jatiya Party Nasir, Omi and four other unidentified people on June 14.

A team of detectives carried out a raid at a house in Uttara Sector-1 and arrested Nasir and Omi in this connection that day.
