Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute on Thursday carried out free surgery on 16 cataract patients at the hospital at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital.
Dr Fahad H. Khan, Medical Director of Vision Specialists of California, USA, and Dr Rubina Akhter took part in the operation under supervision of Dr Moutushi Islam, a Professor of Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute.
The patients, nine men and seven women, had been suffering from severe cataract problems.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Vision Care Foundation organised the free eye camp.
Mohammad Ahsan Habib, manager (human resources and administration) of the hospital, said that this initiative has been taken to provide eye treatment to the poor and cataract patients.
“More than one thousand patients already received free surgery through this free eye camp across the country. However, the activities in different districts remain stopped due to Covid-19 situation but it is still going on in the hospital,” he added.
