Water transport workers called off their indefinite strike after a fruitful discussion between Department of Labour and Bangladesh Water Transport Workers’ Federation on Saturday night.
The meeting was held at the Department of Labour in the capital (started at 3:00 pm and ended at 11:00 pm) today.
Public Relation Officer Akterul Islam of Ministry of Labour and Employment confirmed the matter to media this night.
The Federation enforced the strike at 12:01am last night (Saturday) to press home their 11-point demand, including an increase in their wages.
The workers’ other demands included providing risk allowance, stopping extortion, and ensuring clean water and food for them.
