Three people were killed and four others injured after a train hit a private car at Ghoraghat Railghunti area under Birampur upazila of Dinajpur on Wednesday morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Hafijur Rahman Shah, son of Halim Shah of Moddopara village in Parbatipur upazila.

Quoting eyewitness, Sumon Kumar Mohontho, officer-in-charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station, said the Panchagarh -bound train of ‘Drutajan Express’ from Dhaka hit the Dinajpur’s Hili-bound car while it was crossing a rail crossing in the area at 7:30am, leaving three passengers of the car dead on the spot and four others injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Upazila Health Complex, he said.

It is apprehended that the accident occurred due to dense fog, he added.
