Saraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, is being celebrated across the country today amid much enthusiasm, festivity and religious fervour.

The Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh, as it is believed that the goddess wisdom and knowledge was born on this day.

As a result, devotees, especially students, organise pujas in various educational institutions and temples.

Like last year, the puja will be celebrated by maintaining the health and social distance due to Covid-19 infection.

On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,  in a message, conveyed her best wishes and congratulations to all members of the Hindu community.

“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. People follow their own religions but the festival is for everyone”, the Prime Minister said.

“We celebrate the festivals of all religions together with joy. We will not allow anyone to destroy our communal harmony. The mutual harmony of all religions will be even stronger in the days to come.” she said.
