Myanmar Navy on Friday night handed over the detained 17 Bangladeshi fishermen to Bangladesh Coast Guard.
They were handed over to Bangladesh Coast Guard at its Saint Martin’s Island station around 9:30 pm, said its Media Officer Lt Commander M Hamidul Islam.
He said the fishermen entered the Myanmar water territory on Thursday night after their trawler went out of order while fishing near the Saint Martin’s Island.
They were brought back with the help of the Bangladesh Embassy, Hamidul said.
On November 29, Bangladesh sent back 16 Myanmar fishermen after they were detained for intruding into Bangladesh water territory.
