State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossen has called students as the future of Bangladesh, saying his government considers allocation in education sector an investment.

“Primary education builds the foundation of a student’s life… The government will do everything possible to establish a quality primary education system,” he said.

He was addressing an inaugural programme of Wi-Fi connectivity to the government primary schools at a function in a city hotel yesterday, said an official release.

“Internet connectivity will increase their (students’) knowledge, skill, and productivity from the very beginning of their education life. They will be able to read books, develop contents and join online classes which will take the education sector forward,” Zakir said.

The state minister said this step is crucial to make leadership among the students.

The government, with the help of Grameenphone, is currently providing internet connection to 41,000 primary schools.

This service will be gradually introduced at all government primary schools, added the release.

Director General of the Department of Primary Education Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam presided over the function.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone Limited Yasir Ajman, CBO Md Nasir Yusuf, and Director of the Education Department Badiar Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
