Satkhira Jamaat Amir Abdul Khaleq, his accomplice Roknuzzaman to walk gallows for war crimes

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) awarded capital punishment to two persons including former Jamaat MP and Satkhira unit Amir of the party Abdul Khaleq Mandal alias Jallad Khaleq in a case for committing crimes against humanity in 1971.

Co-accused Khan Roknuzzaman was also sentenced to death in the case.

A three-member strong tribunal of ICT led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the verdict.

 

Abdul Khaleq Mandal and three others were facing charges of wartime crimes including murder, violation, arson, confinement and forced conversion during the liberation war in 1971.

The ICT indicted them on March 5, 2018 in relation to a case lodged on March 19, 2017.

Out of the four accused, two died in the course of trial. They are Abdullah-hil Baki and Zahirul Islam Tekka Khan.
