Bangladesh origin US citizen held with 6kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence officials have arrested a Bangladeshi origin US citizen along with 59 gold bars, weighing 6.8 kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday morning.
The arrestee is identified as Shahnaz Chowdhury.
The officials detained her after she landed at the airport around 8:40am on EK 582 flight of Emirates Airlines. Later, 59 gold bars were recovered from her belt, said Sajjadul Islam, Assistant Revenue Officer of Dhaka Customs House.
He said the detainee was interrogated and found to have brought the gold from the United States. However, she took transit in Dubai on his way to Dhaka.
He also said a process is underway to file a case against her in this regard.
