A three day-long programme began in Khulna on Sunday marking the 161st birth anniversary of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore in a befitting manner.
President of Retired Government Employees Welfare Association and former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Kazi Reazul Haque inaugurated the three day-long programme and folk fair at Daxindhi Rabindra Complex at Fultala upazila in the district yesterday afternoon.
Former Fisheries and Livestock Minister and parliament member of Khulna-5 (Fultala-Dumuria) constituency Naryan Chandra Chanda was present at the function as the chief guest.
Meanwhile, Khulna divisional commissioner Md Ismail Hossain inaugurated another programme at Pithavog in Rupsha upazila in the district yesterday as the chief guest.
Khulna district administration organised the meeting along with poem recitation and Rabindra fair in front of museum premises.
Khulna DC Md Moniruzzaman presided over the discussion meeting while additional secretary of cultural affairs ministry Asim Kumar Dey, Retired deputy inspector general of Police Oliar Rahman, Chairman of Fultala Upazila Parishad Sheikh Akram Hossain, additional Superintendent of Police Tanveer Ahmed UNO of Fultala Sadia Afreen, among others, addressed the event.
Rabindranath Tagore was born in Kolkata, India, on May 7, 1861.
