The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court acquitted two death row accused Ismail and Sonadi of double murder case.
A three-member Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique ordered jail authorities to release the two convicts from the condemned cell.
Another death row convict of the case Tarikul Islam has been awarded life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, the SC commuted punishment of another convict named Tarikul Islam from death sentence to life imprisonment.
On October 10, 2006, Miliara Khatun and her daughter Parvin were killed at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi. The lower court sentenced Ismail, Sonadi and Tarikul to death in 2008 over the murder case in 2008. Later, the High Court upheld the verdict.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court rejected the verdict of the High Court following appeal of the trio.
