Fazl-e-Khuda’s death anniv observed

The first anniversary of the death of eminent lyricist and poet Fazl-e-Khuda, best known for the song titled Salam Salam Hajar Salam, was observed on Monday.

Family members and well-wishers placed floral wreath at his grave at Rayerbazar in the capital and distributed food among the destitute people marking the day.

Different TV channels also aired special programme and RTV is scheduled to air a special programme on July 6.

‘Family members and well-wishers placed floral wreath at the grave of my father. We also distributed food among the destitute people,’ Sajib Onasis, son of Fazl-e-Khuda, told New Age.

‘Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and Banglavision aired special programmes marking the day. Besides, RTV is scheduled to air a special programme on July 6,’ added Sajib Onasis.

Fazl-e-Khuda was born at Bera in Pabna on March 9, 1941. He started his music career as a lyricist in 1963 at the then Pakistan Radio, now Bangladesh Betar, and retired as a director.

He penned the popular song Salam Salam Hajar Salam, which was sung by the late Abdul Jabbar and aired on the then Swadin Bangla Betar Kendra during the Liberation War.

Besides, he wrote popular songs, including Je Deshete Shapla Shaluk Jhiler Jole Bhase, Bhalobasar Mulyo Koto Ami Kichhu Jani Na, Kolsi Kandhe Ghate Jaay Kon Ruposi, Basanti Rong Shari Pore Kon Ramani Chole Jaay, Ami Prodiper Moto Raat Jege, Premer Ek Naam Jiban, Bhabna Amar Ahoto Pakhir Moto, Pather Dhuloy Lutobe and others.

He also authored five collections of poems, 10 collections of rhymes, namely, Surja Swarna Dwip, Bitarkita Jyotsna, Naame Jar Kepe Othe, Tara Kore Ashubha Samay, Sabhyatar Chandrabindu, Phulpakhider Gaan, Tuntuni and others.

Besides, he was also an organiser. He was the founder of the organisation Shapla Shaluk.

Fazl-e-Khuda passed away at Suhrawardy Hospital, aged 80, on July 4, 2021.
