Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a meeting with tea garden owners today regarding the determination of workers’ wages.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at Ganabhaban, official residence of the premier, from 4:00 pm on Saturday.
Prime Minister’s assistant press secretary MM Imrul Kayes confirmed the information while talking to newsman on Thursday.
Mentionable, workers of 167 tea gardens of the country started movement demanding Tk 300 wages from August 9.
The worker leaders talked to the tea workers for several days, but no positive outcome was found. In addition, the officials of the administration gave various assurances to the workers but they (workers) did not return to work.
Amidst the agitation of the tea workers, the tea garden owners offered to increase the wages by Tk 25 taka to Tk 145, but they did not return to work. Their demand is Tk 300.
