Two BCL leaders killed in city road crash

Two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were killed in a road crash after a truck ran over their motorcycle near the South Teghoria area of Keraniganj on the Dhaka-Mawa highway on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as MD Rabbi, 24, organising secretary of Sechhasebak League’s 6 no ward Mugda Thana unit and Md Rasel, office secretary of BCL unit of the same ward.

Rabbi, son of Abdul Khalek of South Mugda area, was a third year student of Habibullah Bahar University College while Rasel, son of Md Siraj of the same area, was a fourth year student of Abujor Gifari College.

On information, the duo fell victim to the tragic road accident this afternoon while they were on their way to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj to visit an imprisoned friend there.

The victims died on the spot, Bashir Udddin, sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station said, adding that the drive ran away after the accident and the truck was seized.

“The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Midford Hospital’s morgue,” he added.
