The students of Institute of Fine Arts of Chattogram University (CU) Wednesday locked its main gate demanding shifting f the institute to the university’s main campus.
The students took position at the main gate of the institute in the city around 11am today.
All academic activities have come to a standstill at the institute following their protest.
No teachers’ bus and staff could enter the campus since morning due to the protest.
The students have been staging demonstrations since November 2 to press home their 22-point demand, including renovation of dormitories and the library.
The other major demands are supply of pure drinking water, bus service for students; enough dining, canteen, washroom facilities, supply of art materials, maintenance of hygiene, smooth power supply to all classrooms, and internet connection.
The students said that they will continue their protest until a specific decision comes from the administration.
On November 8, CU Vice-Chancellor and the teachers of Fine Arts Department sat in a meeting with the students’ delegation over their demands but they did not reach a consensus.
Khandaker Masrul Al Fahim, a fourth-year student of fine arts, said, “The university authority could not give any solution. So our protest will continue.”
