The chief patron of Jatiya Party and leader of the opposition in the parliament Raushan Ershad returned to Bangladesh from Thailand on Sunday  after taking treatment in a Bangkok hospital for five months.

A team of the party leaders received her at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around noon.

Raushan went to Thailand on November 5 in 2021 as she was suffering from lung complications. She was admitted in a Bangkok hospital for treatment.

Raushan Ershad returned to the county on June 27 but went to Thailand again after staying home for some days.

Jatiya Party faced crisis when Raushan convened the party’s 10th national conference for November 26.

The central leader of the party Moshiur Rahman Ranja took stand in favour of Raushan and JP had expelled him from all his party posts, including the opposition chief whip in the parliament.

Finally, Raushan Ershad postponed the November 26 party conference.

The enmity in the party was continuing when the members of parliament of the JP handed over a letter to the Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on October 30 to elect deputy leader of the opposition in parliament Ghulam Muhammad Quader to elect leader of the opposition.

Party chairman GM Quader was refraining from taking part in the party activities after a former party leader Ziaul Haque Mridha field a case with a judge court against Quader.
