Bangladesh lose to India in 1st Test

Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel struck in the early session as Bangladesh suffered a crushing 188-run defeat in the first of the two-match Test series against India at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Sunday.

With Axar and Yadav scalping four and three wickets respectively the home side was all-out 324-run chasing down a mammoth 513 in the second innings.

After a maiden 100 off 224 balls from the debutant Zakir Hasan, skipper Shakib Al Hasan finished with a 108-ball 84.

Bangladesh resumed their innings on 272-6 with their overnight batsmen Shakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz who stood on 40 and 9 runs respectively.

However, the former earned his 30th fifty before he was removed by Yadav followed by Ebadot Hossain for a naught by the same bowler.

Mehidy who made a 48 ball 13 was dismissed by Siraj and Patel claimed Taijul Islam for 4 to depose the hosts inside the tenth over of the day.

India who posted a substantial 404 in the first innings managed 258-2d in the second innings.

However, Bangladesh were all-out for a paltry 150 in their first innings.

The second and final Test match will be played from December 22 to 26 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
