A garment worker was killed as a bus hit him in Bagher Bazar area of Gazipur Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 35, son of Barek Miah of village Pabriachala of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur.

Naozor Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Shah Md Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS saying that the accident took place in the area on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at about 7:00am.

He said that Jahangir was walking along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Bagher Bazar area where a speedy bus of Banashree Paribahan hit him leaving the victim dead on the spot.

Later, police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations, he added.

Police seized the bus, he said, adding that the driver fled the spot.

Legal action would be taken in this regard, he added.
