Gold worth Tk 1.15cr seized at Benapole

Police seized 10 gold bars weighing 1.62kg from Sadipur area in Benapole of Jashore early hours of Tuesday.
Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said tipped off that gold was being smuggled to India, a team of police conducted a drive in Sadipur area at around 1:30am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind a bag and the police recovered the gold bars worth Tk 1.15 crore from the bag, he said.
A process is underway to file a case with the police station in this regard, he added.
