At least three people were killed and another injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a bus on Chandpur-Cumilla road at Ghosherhat under Sadar Upazila in Chandpur district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are Habib Byapari, 24, of Dhalaitali village, Mahbub Pradhania, 50, of Arangbazar under Matlab Dakhkhin upazila and Nesar Hawlader, 40, of Gebindia under Sadar upazila in Chandpur district.

Chandpur police station officer-in-charge Muhammad Abdur Rashid said that a Cumilla-bound bus of Bogdad Paribahan hit a Chandpur-bound auto-rickshaw at Ghosherhat at about 7:30am.

The accident left three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and another passenger injured, he said and added that the injured one was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

He said that they seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee.
