Over-speed of the bus was the main reason behind the recent fatal Madaripur road accident which killed 19 people, said a probe committee report on Wednesday.
The committee report also found that the bus driver did not have a valid driving licence to drive the vehicle.
Besides these the bus was unfit and the road was slippery during the accident, as per the report.
Madaripur additional district magistrate Pallab Kumar Hazra, head of the committee, confirmed New Age about the report.
On Sunday morning, 19 people, including all three bus workers, were killed and 20 more injured as the Emad Paribahan bus fell into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka–Mawa–Bhanga expressway at Kutubpur under Shibpur upazila of Madaripur district.
According to the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority the bus had fitness clearance till January 18, 2023 and had met with another fatal accident in November 2022.
Following that accident, the BRTA ordered suspension of the movement of the bus.
