The High Court on Monday asked the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police in Rajshahi to report to the court whether the district Bangladesh Nationalist Party convener Abu Sayeed Chand was arrested for ‘issuing death threat’ to prime minister Sheikh Hasina in a recent public meeting.
A bench of Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman issued the directive as deputy attorney general Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan drew the court’s attention to social media report where the BNP leader allegedly said that the prime minister was needed to put in the grave.
Rajshahi metropolitan and district unit of BNP jointly organised the rally at Shibpur High School compound to press home the party’ 10-point demand.
Speaking at the rally, Abu Sayeed Chand said that the BNP would do all the necessary steps to dethrone Sheikh Hasina.
