A garment worker was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of snatchers in C and B area of in Savar, on the outskirts of Bangladesh capital Dhaka, on Thursday night.
The deceased is Palash Chandra Mistri, 35, of Thakurgaon district.
Eyewitnesses said that Palash, after his works at about 11:30pm, boarded a rented car in Kalma area of Savar to go to his rented house in Kurgaon of Ashulia.
As the victim he got out of the car in the C and B area, a group of robbers caught him and tried to snatch his mobile phone and cash, but when he resisted, the robbers stabbed him indiscriminately and fled the scene, leaving the victim dead on the spot, the police, quoting witnesses said.
Savar Police Station officer-in-charge Deepak Chandra Saha said that they were conducting operation to arrest the killers.
In the past one week, three people were killed in Savar, Ashulia and Dhamrai by suspected snatchers. Police also recovered the bodies of four people in the last 24 hours, said the OC.
Police recovered Palash’s body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
