Police arrested a chef in two separate cases filed on the charge of allegedly raping two working women from a house in the capital’s Rampura area on Friday night.
The arrestee was identified as Mushfiq Alam, 38, who is a cook by profession and used to supply foods to different bachelor messes or dormitories in Rampura area.
The law enforcing agency arrested Mushfiq after two victims filed two separate cases with Rampura Police Station bringing rape allegations against him last night (Friday night).
Confirming this, Akterruzzaman Munshi, sub-inspector (SI) of the police station, on Saturday said, “Police arrested Mushfiq immediately after the filing of the cases on Friday night.”
He said, “Two victims were admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical tests.”
He also informed that, “Two victims used to have their meals from culprit Mushfiq house. Of them, a 19-year-old victim was raped by him on January 9 (Thursday), while another 18-year-old victim fell victim to rape on January 1. Mushfiq raped them while the victims went to his house to have their meals.”
Mushfiq primarily admitted to the crime in the rape incidents and was supposed to be produced before the court today (Saturday), the SI added.
