After increasing price by Tk 5 to Tk 10, four eggs are being sold at Tk 55-Tk 60 while per dozen eggs at Tk 160-Tk 165 in the kitchen markets.
However, eggs are selling at Tk 170 per dozen at the shops in various localities.
Not only eggs but also onion, vegetables and fishes have become costlier.
Although vegetables are of upward trend, tomato price has skyrocketed.
Due to rumours about price hike, some people are hoarding products than their actual demand.
Stockpile has created mounting pressure on kitchen markets and businessmen are taking the chance.
The marginal class and low-income group are discarding products from their essentials lists.
Visiting kitchen markets on Friday shows that onion price jumped by Tk 15 to Tk 80 per kg. Imported onion was being sold at TK 50 per kg marking a hike by Tk 5-10.
Meanwhile, soaring the price by Tk 10 to 20 within a week, most of the vegetables were selling at Tk 60 plus. In the worst case, tomato was being sold at Tk 300 per kg.
