Students of Dhaka University-affiliated seven government colleges again blocked the Nilkhet intersection for the third day demanding relaxation in CGPA conditions and promotion of students to the next year with a quality improvement test.
On Sunday at about 12:25pm they blocked the Nilkhet intersection. As a result of the students’ blockade, all vehicles from Science Lab to Azimpur and from Azimpur to Science lab remained halted.
Earlier on Saturday, students of the seven government colleges announced a mass hunger strike to press home their demand.
They demanded an end to the irregularities and injustice of the Dhaka University authorities.
The protesting students said that their demands must be accepted otherwise the seven colleges would have to be separated from DU.
According to the rules of Dhaka University, a student should get minimum CGPA 2.00 in the first year examinations to get promoted to the second year, CGPA 2.25 in second year exams to get promoted to the third year and they must get CGPA 2.50 in the third year exams to get promoted to the fourth year.
